What really happened in Jane Austen's ballroom? Why must Lizzy stop dancing once she'd refused Mr Collins? What did Mr Darcy mean by "dancing a reel"? Was the Duke of Wellington really refused admission to the most prestigious ballroom in London? We'll answer these and many other questions, and explore many strange and little-known facts about dancing in Austen's time.
The lecture will be followed by letter-writing with quill pens and sealing wax (instruction provided; bring your address book, because you can mail your letters on-site!).
